APTA Launches Online Driver Training Service

Dieppe, NB - September 14, 2011- The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association today launched a new online driver training service, designed specifically to help its members improve the overall quality of the drivers in their fleets. With a focus on improving safety, compliance, and operational efficiency, the new service provides a full range of driver training programs, indepth testing of driver knowledge, and complete tracking of all activities for managers.

The online training service, powered by CarriersEdge, includes more than 35 different training modules, in English and French, covering topics such as defensive driving practices, hours of service (for both Canada and U.S.), cargo securement, transportation of dangerous goods, and vehicle inspection, among others. New modules will be added regularly, reflecting hot topics and industry issues.

APTA member fleets subscribing to the service will have unlimited use of all modules in the system, for the discounted rate of $4 per driver per month.

"Our members strive to provide quality training to their drivers on a consistent basis, and they've been asking for more online options to assist with that", said Jean-Marc Picard, Executive Director of APTA. "The CarriersEdge system includes a wide selection of top quality courses, and with this service, members can get unlimited use for a very low price. We're very excited to be offering this program."

"We've seen strong interest from Atlantic fleets looking to expand their driver training programs", added Mark Murrell, President of CarriersEdge. "This service allows them to do that, without having to schedule weekend meetings or disrupt operations, and we're extremely pleased to be working with APTA to offer it."

APTA's online training service is available immediately to APTA members.
